New Patient Portal and other changes

Hey guys, it's summer time so that means summer projects for our office! This is when our office slows down a little bit so we can "play catch-up" or implement new projects! We have a few things to let you in on! We have a new patient portal, so you will receive an email to sign up for this. If you do not receive an email please contact our office so that we can put a good contact email address on file. With the new portal you will now be able to access your record plus request appointments, request medication re-fills, pay bills, update demographics, and simply ask a question about your child's care. I'm sure you're wondering how this works right? Well Allscripts (our electronic health record software) has set us up a SECURE portal. It works basically like email. You will log into your SECURE account and send us a request, this request is sent to our desktop and we can respond to you. You will then get a notification in your email telling you to sign in to read our response. If we fill that it is easiest to contact you by phone we will call you back. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact our office and speak with Krista. We know this is a learning process not only for ourselves but also for our patients.

The next thing we have going on is a new confirmation system. In the past we have called patients 2 days in advance to remind of an upcoming appointment. We have not had much success with this. We know that you guys are extremely busy and when an appointment is made 3 months out it is hard to remember. We also know that you may need to make certain arrangements to be at an appointment. So we are starting email and text reminders! Yay, I can already hear the excitement! All you need to do is give us a good contact email, or phone number. We will send you an email reminder 2 weeks out, and 2 days out. You will also receive a 1-time text message asking you to either opt in or opt out. If you choose to opt in you will start receiving text reminders 2 weeks, 2 days, and 2 hours prior to an appointment. If you do not receive email or text messages please don't worry we will still try to contact you 2 days prior to an appointment by phone. Again if you have any questions or concerns plase contact our office and speak with Krista.

One last thing (for now), we need to know how we are doing. We need to be able to get information to better serve our patients. So now after every appointment you will receive a survey in your email. We would greatly appreciate if you could fill this out and let us know how we are doing. Please feel free to give us the good and bad feedback. We cannot fix a problem if we do not know about it. You will also be able to rate our office so that it will be visible on the world wide web. This helps other parents make decisions on choosing a pediatrician. And as always if you have any questions or concerns please contact our office.
